Athena Necklace from Greece

Our Athena Necklace is made with a 10 Lepta coin found during a sailing trip around Rhodes Island back in 2017. 

This cash coin was minted in 1912 and features an owl on an amphora with an olive branch. Symbolising the ancient Athenian connection to the patron goddess, the owl was also a direct tribute to the classical "Athenian owls" (a silver currency minted centuries earlier). The artist Charles Pillet designed the motif in a conscious effort to express Greek national identity and rich heritage.

On the obverse of the coin: a crowned royal emblem, symbol of the Greek monarchy, with the inscription "kingdom of Greece". 

The coin was minted during the reign if King George I, who reigned from 1863 and 1913. It was issued during balkan war (1912-1913), a period when Greece regained historical territories.

It comes with a beautiful gourmette chain that is long and thick to fit both men and women.
