Our iconic Corentin Necklace is named after one of our friend who brought back those beautiful 5 yen coins from a trip to Japan.

On a symbolic level, the 5 yen coin is believed to be one of the luckiest coin in the world. One of the reason is that the pronunciation of the 5 yen / "go-en" is a homophone for a word that means "honorably good luck in terms of connection and relationship". And while one side of the coin is stamped with two young tree sprouts, the other side of the coin shows a rice plant growing out of the water: three graphic elements that represents growth and wealth in Japanese culture.

As a result the 5 yen coin is believed to bring good luck both in relationship and with money. People in Japan would throw these coins at a temple in hope for new love and fortune to arise. And we love to wear it around our neck as a lucky charm!

Original Japanese coin from plated in 10 microns sterling silver and rhodium mounted on a 50cm sterling silver chain.
